HRMC Foundation’s annual Golf Classic sizzled
The winners of the 22nd Annual Hackettstown Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation Golf Classic are familiar with lawn care, but the event gave them a chance to tend to the greens in a different way.
Despite the extreme temperature that reached nearly 100 degrees for most of the day, over 120 golfers teed off at Panther Valley Golf & Country Club’s beautiful Allamuchy Township course on June 9th. However, it was Duke’s Landscape Management, Inc. that came in at the top of the pack. When the events of the day concluded, over $62,000 had been raised for the Joan Knechel Cancer Center at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. This popular outing has been a huge fundraiser for the Cancer Center over its past 22 years, raising over $500,000 in the past seven years alone.
The winning team from Duke’s Landscape Management, Inc, was comprised of John Armas, Eric Cross, Jim Rocco and Tim Watts. They were presented with the Jesse Lawrence Memorial Championship Award for their achievement. The trophy is named for the community-minded Lawrence, who passed away several years ago and was instrumental in starting the Foundation Golf Classic in the mid-1980’s.
The foursome of Carl Ackerman, Bill Henderson, Dave Huizenga, and Doug Stauffer from Warren Hospital, who were last year’s winners, came in second. One of the two foursomes from Mars Snackfood US, the Presenting sponsor of the HRMC Foundation Golf Classic, came in third place. That foursome was comprised of Monte S. Brooks, Bill Downs, Tom Burns, and Bill Ricci.
