School of Rock prepares for May concert in Hackettstown

Young rockers show off their ability on stage during School of Rock concert.

If you missed their first show in January, now is you chance to see what all the buzz is about.  The Long Valley branch of the Paul Green School of Rock Music is going to electrify the stage in the Hackettstown High School Auditorium on May 9, 10 and 11.  Four concerts will take place during the weekend; two shows will be titled “Corporate Rock” and the other two will be called “British Invasion”.  The “Corporate Rock” show will feature the songs of Boston, Styx, Journey and others while the “British Invasion” show will rock to songs by The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many other groups that were part of the magical classic rock invasion from “across the pond”.
“We’ve come a long way since opening our school this past October” is Vince Addesa’s comment on the progress of the students in our local Paul Green School of Rock Music at Valley Music Center in Long Valley.  The school’s first show was a huge success.  The students performed for a full house at the Pax Amicus Theatre this past January.  “The students blow my mind with what they can accomplish in such a short period of time” adds Mike Malinowski, the school’s musical director.  The students in the program (more than 50 strong and growing) each take a weekly private lesson on either:  guitar, bass, drums or keyboard and also have a weekly 3-hour long group rehearsal.  “This is how the kids take what they learn in their lessons and put it into a real world applica-tion” says Addesa.  “This program is about musical learning and performance,” Addesa continues “it captivates them, then moti-vates them to be their best; because if they aren’t practicing, then their performance will be lacking and they know that they don’t want to let the other band members down.”  The students of our school of rock music will captivate you with their presence and abilities.  These shows will be an inspiration to all who have ever wanted to be in a band.
The Paul Green School of Rock, Long Valley opened in October, 2007 with 19 students.  Addesa and his partners George Moran and David White decided to bring the school to Long Valley after witnessing the national success of the program and countless vid-eos on Youtube. Since opening, the school has attracted students from Long Valley, Califon, Chester, Flanders, Far Hills, Oxford and Hackettstown.  The concerts on May 9, 10 and 11 will be the second of 3 sets of shows for the year.   Tickets are available at Valley Music Center in Long Valley or via telephone (908) 876-1240.
