Ronetco ShopRites collect 263 pints of blood
Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc. is pleased to announce that 263 pints of blood were collected at its 2008 Winter blood drive.
Ronetco holds two blood drives annually, Winter and Summer, when the need for blood is most critical. Associates from its Corporate Headquarters and all of its seven ShopRite supermarkets, as well as customers, donate.
A minimum of 400 units of blood are needed each day to meet the needs of patients in Northern and Central New Jersey. The shelf life for the red cells is 42 days; five days for platelets and only hours for white cells; thus, a continuous supply is needed. Unfortunately, only about 3% of the eligible population in this area donate blood.
