THE WEEKLY NEWS NOVEMBER 7, 2008

The Rev. Bob Mayer is rolling up his sleeve on November 22.  He’s hoping a lot of other people will come by the Drakestown United Methodist Church and do the same.  That Saturday, from 10:00  - 1:30pm, a blood drive  held at the church, will benefit the blood supplies at area hospitals, including Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. The church is located at 6 Church Street in Long Valley, just off Naughtright Road which runs by the Budd Lake A&P shopping plaza.  It would be best if people pre-registered for the blood drive, though Mayer feels walk-ins will be taken.  To pre-register, call Thomasina Makus  973-252-9352.

BOE names Dr Larrie Reynolds new Superintendent
Pequannock Superintendent of Schools Dr. Larrie Reynolds has said that he will accept the position offered to him in the Mount Olive School District, and will tender his resignation to the Board of Education soon. He will continue on in his position as Pequannock’s superintendent until February, when he will make the transition to Mount Olive.

The Mount Olive Board of Education voted 7-1 with one abstention on Monday night to approve Reynolds as its choice to fill the superintendent spot.
“I’ve decided to take the position,” Reynolds said in an interview on Tuesday. “I’m excited to be a part of the Mount Olive team, and I’d like to be able to go there with an open mind and find out what’s happening there. I’m looking towards the future; I’m not going to live in the past.”

Reynolds, who came to the Pequannock district in 2006, has been the subject of much controversy in the township since news came out about three weeks ago that he was among the finalists for the Mount Olive superintendent’s position.

Reynolds said that he was, “amazed and really speechless” at the level of support that people have shown him in recent weeks.
